I just got back from Vegas after spending 3 fun days at the WinConnections conference and expo for IT Professionals.
This was the first time I got a chance to be an exhibitor at an expo, and I have to say it was so much fun meeting and talking to everyone, and giving away our training.
This was also a great learning opportunity for me, as I’m sure it was for all of the attendees. This year’s WinConnections covered everything from Vista, Server 2008, Exchange, SharePoint, and SQL, to ASP.NET, .NET, Visual Studio, Virtualization and much more.
Between the workshops and sessions the expo hall was the place to be. Our booth was definitely one of the coolest ones there — thanks to Iman Jalali (below with Sandy Moran).
Day 1
The first day of the expo was very busy for us. We spent a lot of time talking about who we are and what we do.
Sandy, Gary, Iman and Scott are all pictured below at the Train Signal booth.
We made sure everyone who stopped by our booth left with a free copy of our Intro to Server 2008 training.
We also made sure everyone got a chance to ask us questions and get the right answers.
Day 2
The second day was a bit slower and much more relaxed.
Plus there were free cookies — which, as you can tell from the shots below, Gary really enjoyed
Before the crowds rolled in we had a few minutes to relax and enjoy a nice sugar rush!
Since we had some extra time I took a quick look around at some of the other booths at the expo — one of which was Microsoft’s.
Every booth was giving something away — a pen, a t-shirt, a key chain …
… but it was nice to see that most of the people who stopped by to talk to us really appreciated our training instead of something generic like a pen.
After Work Hours …
After our time at the expo we did what everyone who comes to Vegas does — we had fun!
Following an awesome meal at the Palms we headed over to the Hard Rock for a Zappos party at Wasted Space.
Here’s the whole Vegas team — Iman, Sandy, Scott, Gary and myself.
The following night we headed over to the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay where we listened to a talented local blues band …
… and did a little bit of gambling afterwards.
And the big winner was … Sandy!
Here’s a tip — always go for the biggest slot machine you can find and have fun!
We hope to see you at the next conference!
