New Training Release: VMware View Administration Training

2011 Virtualization trends point to VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). In fact, recent Baseline Magazine survey results show that more than one third of organizations with 100 employees or more will be deploying a VDI solution in 2011, showing a 3% increase from the previous year.

VMware View is one of the top desktop virtualization solutions, it offers automated desktop provisioning, advanced virtual desktop image management, improved security as well as availability and scalability. VMware View can also help minimize migration risks and costs for companies migrating to Windows 7. And View works seamlessly with VMware ThinApp to help you bring application virtualization to your organization.

Be Among the First to Get the New Desktop Virtualization Certifications from VMware

In response the the increase in interest and adoption of desktop virtualization, VMware recently launched a new lineup of VDI certifications. The three tiered certification lineup includes:

  • VMware Certified Associate – Desktop (VCA-DT) — an entry level exam and a starting point for Desktop Virtualization certifications, the VCA is geared towards desktop system administrators who work with (or want to work with) desktop virtualization.
  • VMware Certified Professional – Desktop (VCP-DT) — designed for current VCPs, the VCP-DT is directed towards virtualization systems engineers who have experience with desktop virtualization as well as the VCA-DT under their belts
  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Desktop (VCAP-DT) — at the highest level, the VCAP-DT exam is still in development

VMware Certified Associate – Desktop (VCA-DT)

VMware recommends six months of experience with desktop virutalization and specifically, with the VMware View product before attempting the entry level VCA-DT exam.

Additionally, there’s no classroom requirement for any of the VMware View certifications, which means candidates are free to learn about VDI and prepare for the exams on their own.

    Hi Demetrius,

Good to hear from you! Thanks for your feedback!

We are definitely planning on creating training for the VCP-DT and VCAP-DT but unfortunately I don’t have any release dates for you yet. Our upcoming VMware courses include VMware Security, Complete VCAP Training Package and VMware 5. I suspect more VMware View training will be coming in Q4 or 2011 or Q1 of 2012, but that’s just my guess.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Kasia

The demo video was hard to see.
I know vmware 5 isn’t released as yet but I’m sure your team is at work already. Any dates?

    Hi Delano,

I’m not sure if you’re aware of this, but there is a “full screen” button on the video right next to the volume control that looks like a double-sided arrow… that might help you see the details in the video a little better.

And you’re absolutely correct, we are working on developing a VMware vSphere 5 training at this time but the release date of the training will depend on when vSphere 5 itself comes out. We are hoping to have it by the end of Q3 but that’s just a guess at this time.
