In this free CompTIA Network+ training video, I’ll define basic DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) servers and DNS (Domain Name System) servers. I’ll also explain where you might find a basic DHCP server and why they are described as “basic” DHCP servers rather than simply DHCP servers. Finally, I’ll explain what a DNS server is, where they are used, and the differences between DNS servers and extensive DNS servers.
As you’ll learn in the video above, a basic DHCP server is a TCP/IP service used to dynamically assign IP addresses to a network, while a DNS server is a TCP/IP service used to resolve host names to IP addresses. Thanks for watching!
