Exchange 2010 Administration: Collecting Organizational Health Data

Topics Mentioned
Software:

The Organizational Health feature in Exchange Server 2010 provides a good overview of your Exchange environment that’s easily accessible from your Exchange Management Console (EMC).

Organizational Health allows you to see a summary of your:

  • databases (total databases, total database copies, total unhealthy database copies),
  • licenses for Exchange 2010 users (total users requiring CALs, Standard and Enterprise CALs required),
  • servers (total Exchange 2010, 2007, 2003 servers, total Mailbox servers, total Client Access servers, total Hub Transport servers, total Unified Messaging servers, total unlicensed servers),
  • recipients, including recipients information (total recipients, total user mailboxes, total distribution groups, total dynamic distribution groups, total mail contacts, total mail users, total legacy mailboxes) and feature usage information (total messaging records management users, total journaling users, total Outlook Web App users, total ActiveSync users, total Unified Messaging users, total MAPI users, total POP3 users, total IMAP4 users)

As you can see, Organizational Health provides you with a wealth of information, but you first need to enable this feature in order to collect and see the data.
