Interview with PowerShell Guru Don Jones at Connections 2011

Don Jones is one of the top names when it comes to PowerShell.

He’s a Microsoft MVP for PowerShell, has written more than 35 books (most of which are on PowerShell) and regularly speaks at conferences like DevConnections, TechEd, and TechMentor about — you guessed it — PowerShell. He’s also a contributor to many of the top IT publications, including TechNet Magazine, Redmond Magazine, and TechTarget and a sought after trainer. If you’re learning PowerShell then you’ll inevitably come across Don in one way or another.

At this year’s Connections conference in Orlando, Don presented four sessions on PowerShell including a crash course for PowerShell newbies, a session on PowerShell remoting, a more advanced session for PowerShell pros and one on using PowerShell with SharePoint. It was one full day of PowerShell, or as Don put it, “it’s PowerShell 24/7.”

Now is the Time to Learn PowerShell

If you’ve been afraid of PowerShell and reluctant to use it, don’t worry, you’re not alone. But now is the time to get with the program. And if you’re going to learn one thing in 2011, it should be PowerShell.

As you’ll hear Don say in the interview, “you have about a year to learn PowerShell” before the lack of knowledge starts to take a toll on your career.

Learn Windows PowerShell in a Month of LunchesPowerShell can be intimidating, especially to beginners, but there are plenty of great resources available for learning it. Don has just finished his latest book that is designed for busy admins that are new to PowerShell and don’t have a lot of time to learn it; all you need is one hour a day.

The book is called Learn Windows PowerShell in a Month of Lunches. You don’t need previous PowerShell experience, you don’t need a huge time commitment, and the book is very affordable. Now you don’t have any more excuses to learn PowerShell. Get Don’s book and take your career to the next level.
