Video: Interview with David Davis at VMworld 2010

David Davis, VCP, vExpert and Train Signal’s VMware training instructor was a speaker at this year’s VMworld, presenting on the best free tools for vSphere management. David actually presented three times, because the first two sessions were full and there were more people who wanted to see his talk. Needless to say, David’s VMworld sessions were a huge success.

vChat with David DavisBesides presenting, David did a live vChat with Eric Siebert of vSphere-Land.com and Simon Seagrave of TechHead.co.uk which you can take a look at here: vChat Episode 6: LIVE From VMworld 2010 in San Francisco.

In the vChat, the three vExperts talk about their experiences at VMworld 2010, what they thought of the keynotes and the sessions they attended. It’s a great video and a must see for any virtualization pro.

vChat has become very popular since it started just a few months ago and a new episode is recorded several times each month. David, Eric and Simon are regular contributors but they have had a number of guest speakers, including John Troyer, VMware’s Social Media Strategist in Episode 8 with an introduction from VMware’s CTO Dr. Steven Herrod.

With each new vChat episode you can expect a new discussion on virtualization covering VMware vSphere, Cloud Computing, Virtualization News, and much more. You can subscribe to vChat on iTunes (it’s totally free) so you don’t miss an episode.

Interview with David Davis at VMworld 2010

Even though David was extremely busy, I got a chance to do a short video with him to get his impression of this year’s VMworld and his thoughts on some of the announcements that were made during the keynotes. David talks about some of the big topics of VMworld 2010 and offers some good advice to budding virtualization pros.

    Hi David,

I want to get started in VMware but i don’t know where to start. For a beginner what would be a good starting point? Also should i buy any books to go along with the training video? and if so what would be a good book for a person just starting out in virtualization?

    Hi Demetrius,
    Thanks for your comment!
A good foundation in the Windows OS and Networking will be very helpful in learning virtualization.
Once you have some base knowledge like that, I recommend my VMware vSphere training course.
No, you don’t NEED a book but for the learners out there who enjoy reading as well as watching video training, I would have to recommend Scott Lowe’s Mastering vSphere 4 book from Amazon.com.
    I hope that helps!
If you have more questions, feel free to contact me through my blog at http://www.VMwareVideos.com.
    Thank again!
    -David
