An ode to pi

Happy Pi Day!  It’s March 14, aka 3.14, the day nerds everywhere get to celebrate the mathematical constant. Some fun facts about pi:

  • Indiana tried to legislate the value of pi in 1897, an act “as plausible as repealing the law of gravity.”
  • Mathematicians believe that every numeric pattern possible eventually occurs in pi’s digits. There’s a website where you can type in any number string and it shows its place in pi.
  • Albert Einstein was born on Pi Day in 1879.
  • In this episode of “Star Trek,” Spock thwarts an evil supercomputer by making it computer to the end value of pi.

The fun doesn’t stop there. To help you celebrate, we scoured the web for pi T-shirts, comics and more…
