The new VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) Certification is an intermediate level certification for VMware Certified Professionals that comes in two flavors:

  • VCAP – Datacenter Administration
  • VCAP – Datacenter Design

The Datacenter Administration certification focuses on planning and administration of vSphere technologies and is aimed at system administrators, consultants and engineers working with VMware vSphere; while the Design cert centers on the methodologies and principles of data center design and is geared towards IT architects. The two certifications are unique and you’re not required to complete one to take on the other.

For those who have completed the VCP4 certification and are looking for a new challenge, the VCAP is the logical next step that can offer industry recognition, new career opportunities and many other benefits. Unlike the VCP, the VCAP has no course requirements and you are free to use any training method you choose.

Has TrainSignal considered any training for VMware to address FCIP and ISCSI for failover to collocation sites or datacenters. I wish that their was more information out there besides just this!

    Hi Shea,

We have iSCSI lessons but not specifically on failover to collocation datacenters and we have nothing on FCIP.

At this moment we don’t have any plans to include this in our VMware training; it’s a pretty advanced topic and we’re not sure how many customers need failover to multiple datacenters. If things change and we do decide to cover this, I’ll definitely let you know.
