I want to be an IT professional, but where do I start? -- I get asked this
question almost every day and I can see why -- it’s not as simple as it
sounds.
What to do? Where to start? There are so many different specialties and
certifications that many people get discouraged just by looking at them.
My opinion -- the best place to start your career as an IT pro is
by getting your CompTIA Network+ certification. This
vendor-neutral certification can later on be applied to Microsoft,
Cisco, Linux, and many other certifications.

Denial-of-Service (DoS) Attacks are the most common network attacks today.
The intention of the attacker is to stress the victim with a tremendous amount of spurious traffic so that
the network has no more free resources to process normal legitimate traffic.
Learning about these types of network attacks -- learning your enemy --
will help you be prepared for the worst. Today I will focus on the most important types of DoS attacks: SYN Flood, UDP Flood, ICMP Flood, Land Attack and Teardrop Attack
and ... the PING of Death.
