This week CWNP announced two new professional level certifications:
• CWDP – Certified Wireless Design Professional
• CWAP – Certified Wireless Analysis Professional
The CWAP Exam (PW0-270) is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2010, whereas the CWDP Exam (PW0-250) is coming out in January 2011.
CWDP Certification (Exam PW0-250)
The CWDP certification will ensure you have the skills to “successfully design enterprise Wi-Fi networks for a variety of different applications, deployments, and environments, no matter which brand of Wi-Fi gear your organization deploys.”
Two exams are required to obtain the CWDP certification:
- Exam PW0-104 — CWNA Certification Exam
- Exam PW0-250 — CWDP Certification Exam
Both exams are 90 minutes long, have 60 multiple choice questions with a passing score of 70% and are available in English only. The cost of the PW0-104 exam is $175, while the cost of the PWO-250 exam is $225.

CWAP Certification (Exam PW0-270)
The CWAP certification is being reintroduced this year with updated content. CWAP was originally released in 2004 for a brief period but has been revamped to account for changes in wireless networking technology as well as “renewed focus on helping engineers troubleshoot and solve common real-world problems.”
As with the CWDP certification, two exams are required for the CWAP certification:
- Exam PW0-104 — CWNA Certification Exam
- Exam PW0-270 — CWAP Certification Exam
Both exams are 90 minutes long, have 60 multiple choice questions, require a passing score of 70% and are available only in English. As mentioned above, the cost of the PW0-104 exam is $175, while the cost of the PWO-270 exam is $225.
Update 10.15.2010: A recent blog post on the CWNP website confirmed that the CWAP exam (PW0-270) is actually 2 hours instead of 90 minutes.
