In modern networks there is a large amount of attention put on network security.
In order to fill this section of the market with well trained and qualified professionals, Cisco created the Cisco Certified Security track and like most of their certification tracks includes an associate (CCNA Security), professional (CCSP) and expert certification (CCIE Security).
This article focuses on the CCSP and the requirements of this professional certification.

The first thing that must be completed before starting on the CCSP is the completion of the prerequisite which includes taking and passing the CCNA Security Exam 640-553: Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security (IINS) or by having an existing CCIE certification in any discipline.
The CCSP requires three core exams which include:
- Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches (SNRS) Exam 642-504
- Securing Networks with ASA Foundation (SNAF) Exam 642-524
- Implementing Cisco Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) Exam 642-533
For the fourth exam requirement you are given the selection of three different tests, these include:
- Implementing Cisco NAC Appliance (CANAC) Exam 642-591
- Implementing Cisco Security Monitoring, Analysis and Response System (MARS) Exam 642-545
- Securing Networks with ASA Standard (SNAA) Exam 642-515

Securing Networks with Cisco Routers and Switches (SNRS) Exam 642-504
