In this lesson you will work hands-on to configure and manage the features of Exchange Server within SBS 2011. For starters we will review the different methods and tools provided for managing Exchange including the Exchange Management Console (EMC), the Exchange Management Shell (EMS) and the Exchange Control Panel. Then we will work through the necessary configuration tweaks necessary to get our SBS server up and running with Exchange. This includes the creation of a smart host for sending email, using POP3 connectors, configuring size limits on mailboxes through quotas, as well as placing new limits on inbound and outbound mail sizes. We’ll look at how to add a new domain and discuss different domain types. We’ll go through the process of creating transport rules and create a company disclaimer. Then we will look at ways to check various statistics as well as troubleshoot our mail flow in the event Exchange has a problem. Finally, we will review the rest of the EMC so that you are completely comfortable with the primary Exchange GUI tool for managing Exchange features.

Once you have your users set up on Exchange, you will need to make sure your system is prepared in case of some kind of system failure. In this lesson you will discover the different levels of Exchange Server recovery and you will learn the best practices for managing your Exchange backup and recovery; so if disaster strikes, you’ll be able to keep your e-mail system up and running. We’ll begin the discussion with a review of storage architecture and explain how Exchange mailbox server databases work.
